What does a writer’s life actually look like behind the scenes?
Sometimes it looks like a carefully planned schedule.
Sometimes it looks like index cards, legal pads, unfinished emails, client deadlines, teaching assignments, household chores, a cat standing between you and the keyboard—and five or six fictional people demanding your attention at the same time.
In this episode, Alex and Chris pull back the curtain on the beautiful chaos of the creative life.
We talk about finding time to write when life refuses to clear the calendar, creating a rhythm instead of waiting for the perfect schedule.
And if that’s not enough, they tackle capturing ideas before they disappear, managing freelance work alongside personal projects, and allowing characters to become real enough to develop voices of their own.
But underneath all the madness is something even more important:
Why do we keep doing this?
Because writing isn't simply something we have to do.
It's something we get to do.
And because somewhere along the road, someone helped us. Someone encouraged us. Someone gave us a chance.
Part of the creative life is turning around and doing the same for somebody else.
